Requirements
-For appointment to the position of Registrar of the High Court, the applicant must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- 1. Hold a law degree from a recognized university;
- 2. Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
- 3. Has, since admission to the Roll of Advocates attained at least five years’ experience as a legal practitioner;
- 4. Hold a post graduate Diploma in Law;
- 5. Attended a Senior Management Course; and
- 6. Meets the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution;

Duties and Responsibilities
-The function and powers of the Registrar, High Court is provided for under Section 20 of the High Court (Organization and Administration) Act, namely;
- 1.setting up of the registry and maintenance of the registers of the Court;
- 2.Day to day administration and management of the Court;
- 3.overseeing of support services in the Court including the planning, development and the organization of staff;
- 4.monitoring of administration and office procedures to uphold efficiency and quality of service;
- 5.planning, preparation and implementation of the budget of the Court;
- 6.preparing of reports and proposals on administrative issues as may be required from time to time;
- 7.overseeing the procurement and disposal of assets;
- 8.acceptance, transmission, service and custody of documents in accordance with the law;
- 9.facilitating the enforcement of the decisions of the Court;
- 10.certificating of any order, direction or decision as an order, direction or decision of the Court, the Chief justice or a Judge, as the case may be;
- 11.causing to be kept records of the proceedings and minutes of the meetings of the Court and such other records as the Court may direct;
- 12.managing of the library of the Court;
- 13.facilitating of access to judgments and records of the Court;
- 14.ensuring there is uniform and efficiency in the registry operations across all courts; and
- 15.performing of such other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Registrar from time to time.

- ii)A detailed and updated curriculum vitae, summarizing the applicant’s bio-data including, background information such as community service, financial discipline, pro bono activity, involvement as a party in litigation and involvement in political activity including financial contribution to political party
-parties (if any), criminal record and legal education, legal practice
- engagement for the last five (5) years,
- iii)Names of three (3) professional references and two (2) character references who can verify and comment on the applicant’s past and present employment,
- iv)Applicant’s recent coloured passport size photograph,
- v)Five (5) samples of any professional writings, including but not limited to judgments, advocacy submissions in courts, scholarly writings or any legal publications that the applicant has authored,
- vi)Certified copies of testimonials, professional certificates, academic transcripts and certificate of admission to the roll of Advocates.
- 2.Successful candidate will be required to avail the following documents before appointment:
- i) Valid original clearance certificates from the following bodies during the interview:-
- a)Kenya Revenue Authority,
- b)Higher Education Loans Board,
- c)Law Society of Kenya,
- d)Directorate of Criminal Investigations,
- e)Advocates Complaints Commission,
- f)Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and
- g)A recognized Credit Reference Bureau.
- ii)Original testimonials, professional certificates, academic transcripts and certificate of admission to the roll of Advocates.
- Applicants MUST take note that it is a criminal offence to provide false information and documents in the job application and the same will be verified by relevant bodies.
