Requirements
-For appointment to this position, an applicant must: -
- i.Hold a degree in Islamic Law or its equivalent from a recognized University
-Institution;
- ii.A qualification in Management from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
- iii.Professes the Muslim religion and possesses knowledge of the Muslim law applicable to any sect of Muslims;
- iv.Demonstrated managerial and professional competence in work performance;
- v.Be of good conduct in accordance with the Islamic faith; and
- vi.Have high moral character, integrity and impartiality (meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity).
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a distinguished academic in Islamic law, or Islamic law practitioner or such experience in other related fields.

Duties and Responsibilities
-Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve:
- (i)Supervision of all the Kadhi’s Courts;
- (ii)Sitting as an assessor during appeals from Kadhis Courts;
- (iii)Arbitration of disputes on inheritance, marriages and divorce in Muslim families;
- (iv)Translating Arabic related documents;
- (v)Supervising, guiding and developing staff working under the Kadhi’s Courts;
- (vi)Submitting regular reports to the Chief Justice concerning the Kadhi’s Courts in general;
- (vii)Submission of regular reports to Attorney-General on registration of Muslim marriages and divorces;
- (viii)Attending to matters of the sighting of the moon; and
- (ix)Performing such other judicial functions as provided by law;

- (c)Five (5) samples of any professional writings, including but not limited to judgments, advocacy submissions in courts, scholarly writings or any legal publications that the applicant has authored.
- (d)Names of three (3) referees; two (2) professional referee and one (1) character reference;
- (e)Copies of National Identity Card (I.D), Passport or any other relevant identifiable legal documents;
- (f)Copies of academic and professional certificates, testimonials and academic transcripts;
- (g)Applicant’s one (1) recent coloured passport size photograph
- (h)Shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates and transcripts during interviews;
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit valid clearance certificates from the following bodies during the interview: -
- •Kenya Revenue Authority
- •Higher Education Loans Board
- •Directorate of Criminal Investigation
- •Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
- •A recognized Credit Reference Bureau; and
- •Recommendation from relevant professional body, as the case may be, as being in Good Standing.
- Applicants MUST take note that it is a criminal offence to provide false information and documents in the job application and the same will be verified by relevant bodies.
