| Requirements |
| -A Chairperson of the National Examinations Appeals Tribunal shall: |
| -
a. hold a law degree from a recognized university |
| -
b. be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya of at least fifteen years standing or possess an equivalent qualification in a common-law jurisdiction. |
| -
c. Not at any time within the preceding five (5) years been an employee of the Kenya National Examination Council or was an employee of the Council five years before the date of appointment. |

| |
| Duties and Responsibilities |
| -The chairperson shall discharge the following duties: - |
| -
a) Presiding over all proceedings defined by Section 40H of the Kenya National Examination Council Act No. 29 of 2012 where he |
| -she is present in person; |
| -
b) Constituting such panels or panels of the Tribunal as may be necessary for the fair and expeditious disposal of the business of the Tribunal; |
| -
c) Assigning the business of the Tribunal to the members; |
| -
d) Carrying out inquiries into the disputes lodged including summoning witnesses, taking evidence and calling for production of records and other documents; |
| -
e) Recording proceedings in a clear and accurate manner; |
| -
f) Writing and pronouncing awards, judgments, orders, rulings and decrees issued by the Tribunal. |
| -
g) Making rules of the tribunal with respect to the filing, hearing and disposal of disputes and other matters before the Tribunal; |
| -
h) Providing requisite leadership to ensure the Tribunal attains a high level of competitiveness and ethical standards; |
| -
i) Driving the Tribunals vision and mission through the implementation of its Programmes and plans; |
| -
j) Undertaking any other duty assigned for the benefit of the Tribunal |

| Important Information |

(d) Names of three (3) referees; two (2) professional referee and one (1) character reference; |

(e) Copies of National Identity Card (I.D), Passport or any other relevant identifiable legal documents; |

(f) Copies of academic and professional certificates, testimonials and academic transcripts; |
| -
(g) Applicant’s one (1) recent coloured passport size photographs |
| -
(h) Shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates and transcripts during interviews |
| -
Successful candidates will be required to submit valid copies of clearance certificates from the following bodies on Appointment: - |
| -
• Kenya Revenue Authority |
| -
• Higher Education Loans Board |
| -
• Directorate of Criminal Investigation |
| -
• Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission |
| -
• A recognized Credit Reference Bureau; and |
| -
• Clearance from relevant professional body. |
| -
