Requirements
- The candidate must:-
- Have a Bachelors Degree in Law from a recognized institution;
- Have a Masters Degree in Law from a recognized institution;
- Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
- Have a minimum of five (5) years’ post admission experience in Legal practice with focus on Litigation, Commercial & Conveyancing, Government Contracting, Public Finance, Employment & Labour Relations, Governance, Policy, Regulatory and Statutory compliance;
- Be proficient in Computer applications; and
- Have good personality and integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities
- The Principal Legal Officer will be responsible to the Assistant Director, Legal Unit.
- Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
- Review progress of outstanding litigation, liaise with and manage external lawyers and Office of the Attorney General.
- Coordinate with external Lawyers and the Office of the Attorney General to review draft demand letters, plaints, defences, applications and various pleadings in contentious Civil, Criminal, Commercial and Conveyance matters.
- Coordinate with external Lawyers and the Office of the Attorney General in conducting Civil, Criminal, and Commercial litigation, Client interview and drafting of legal opinions, notices, memoranda, motions, briefs and appeals in matters where the Chief Registrar and or Judiciary are enjoined.
- Review all the pleadings and advise the Chief Registrar on all actions, lawsuits and proceedings brought against any Judges, Judicial Officer or employees acting in his
-her official capacity in any of the Court proceedings.
- Coordinate with external Lawyers and relevant government agencies and or institute Legal proceedings for the recovery of the illegally acquired assets and monies belonging to the Judiciary including.
- Liaise and coordinate with other independent state offices such as the office of Chief Justice, Attorney General and responsible for assignment of briefs to Legal Counsel representing the Chief Registrar or Judiciary in Court and coordinate litigations and suits management.
- Coordinate with other government agencies and or consultants in drafting and formulation of bills or legislative proposals attendant to the Judiciary and advising the Chief Registrar on the legislative and other emerging legal and constitutional matters touching on the Administration of the Judiciary.
