Requirements
- The candidate must:-
- Have a Bachelors Degree in Law from a recognized institution;
- Have a Masters Degree in Law from a recognized institution;
- Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
- Have a minimum of seven (7) years’ post admission experience in legal practice with focus on Litigation, Commercial & Conveyancing, Government Contracting, Public Finance, Employment & Labour Relations, Governance, Policy, Regulatory and Statutory compliance;
- Be proficient in Computer applications; and
- Have good personality and integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities
- This is the Head of the Legal Unit. He
-she will be responsible to the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary. The job holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Legal Unit, provision of legal advisory services and ensuring effective management of legal and contractual risks.

- Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive summons and instruction on behalf of the Chief Registrar and coordinate with external Lawyers to enter appearance, file and cross file relevant pleadings in matters where the Chief Registrar and or Judiciary is a party.
- Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management especially on contract management and tendering.
- Review progress of outstanding litigation, liaise with and manage external lawyers and Office of the Attorney General.
- Advising, negotiate, draft, vet, review, and interpret local and international documents, agreements, contracts, memoranda of understanding and interpreting international and regional treaties for and on behalf of the Judiciary.
- Ensure compliance and enforcement of Judicial Service Commission decisions as directed by the Chief Registrar in her capacity as the Secretary of the Commission.
- Identify strategic priority areas that require Law reform within the Judiciary and in national Legislation and undertake activities in that regard.
- Advise the Chief Registrar on all matters relating to the Constitution, national legislations and County legislations affecting the administration of Justice.
- Undertake Legal Audits to ensure the Constitutional provisions County and national legislations, regional and international treaties or legal documents
-instruments that are attendant to Judiciary and Judicial functions are complied with and enforced in the Judiciary.
- Provide leadership and ensure efficient and effective management of staff and resources in the Legal unit.
