Requirements
-For appointment to this position, an applicant must be in possession of the following qualifications:-
- 1. hold a law degree from a recognized university, or is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, or possess an equivalent qualification in a Common-Law jurisdiction;
- 2. at least ten (10) years’ experience as a Superior Court Judge or professionally qualified Magistrate; or
- 3. at least ten (10) years’ experience as a distinguished academic or legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal field; or
- 4. held the qualifications specified above in (2) and (3) for a period amounting, in aggregate, to ten (10) years:
- 5. In addition, the applicant must demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, communication skills, fairness, good temperament, good judgment in both legal and life experiences and commitment to public and community service.
- 6. The applicant shall not be a member of the Public Service or taking an active part in the activities of a Political Party.

- Note: Experience may have been gained in Kenya or in any other country with a Common Law jurisdiction.
Duties and Responsibilities
-The Chairperson of the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal shall be responsible for:-
- 1) presiding over all proceedings where he
-she is present in person;
- 2) participating in hearing and determination of all disputes which come before the Tribunal;
- 3) carrying out inquiry into the disputes and appeals lodged including summoning witnesses, taking evidence and calling for production of books and other documents;
- 4) making finding thereupon and notifying parties concerned of the awards, judgements, orders, rulings and decrees issued by the Tribunal;
- 5) making rules of the Tribunal with respect to the filing, hearing and disposal of appeals and other matters before the tribunal; and
- 6) providing requisite leadership to ensure the Tribunal attains a high level of competiveness and ethical standards in its entire programmes.
