Requirements
-For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: -
- i. Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from a recognized University.
- ii. Post graduate Diploma in Law.
- iii. A Senior Management Course or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- iv. Membership to a professional body
- v. Proficiency in Computer applications.
- A person shall be qualified for appointment as Registrar if such a person;
- a) Is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and has, since qualification
- i. Become eligible for appointment as a Judge of the High Court;
- ii. Served for at least ten(10) years as a professionally qualified Magistrate;
- iii. Attained at least ten(10) years’ experience as a distinguished Academic or Legal Practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal field; iv. Held the qualifications specified in paragraphs (i) to (iii) for a period amounting, in the aggregate, to ten (10) years; and
- b) Has demonstrated competence in the performance of administrative duties for not less than three(3) years

Duties and Responsibilities
-The Registrar shall be responsible for;
- Judicial Duties In relation to the proceedings before the Court, the Registrar may consider and dispose of procedural or administrative matters in accordance with the Rules or on the direction of the Presiding Judge in charge.
- Administrative Duties
- i. Establishment and maintenance of the Registry of the Court(s)
- ii. Acceptance, transmission, service and custody of documents in accordance with the Rules;
- iii. Facilitating the enforcement of decisions of the Court(s);
- iv. Certifying that any order, direction or decision is an order, direction or decision of the Court(s), the Chief justice or a Judge, as the case may be; v. Maintenance of the Register of the Court(s);
- vi. Causing to be kept records of the proceedings and minutes of the meetings of the Court and such other records as the Court may direct;
- vii. Managing and supervising the staff of the Court(s);
- viii. Day to day administration of the Court(s);
- ix. Managing the library of the Court(s); x. Facilitating access to judgments and records of the Court(s); xi. Undertaking any other duties assigned by Chief Registrar

- (d) Certified copies of, admission Certificate to the Roll of Advocates professional certificates, testimonials professional certificates and academic transcripts;
- (e) Applicant’s recent coloured passport size photograph; and (f) Five (5) sample writings of any professional writings, including but not limited to judgements, advocacy submissions in courts, scholarly writings or any legal publications that the applicant has authored;
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit valid copies of clearance certificates from the following bodies during the interview: -
- • Kenya Revenue Authority
- • Higher Education Loans Board
- • Directorate of Criminal Investigation
- • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
- • A recognized Credit Reference Bureau; and
- • Clearance from relevant professional body. Applicants MUST take note that it is a criminal offence to provide false information and documents in the job application and the same will be verified by relevant bodies.
