|-For appointment to this position, an applicant must be in possession of the following
(i) Have a Bachelors Degree in any of the following; Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualification from a recognised University
(ii) Possess a post graduate diploma in any of the following disciplines, in the case of holders of general social science degree: Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognised University
(iii) Have at least six (6) years relevant work experience.
(iv) Demonstrate a clear understanding of the working of the media and the socio-political environment in Kenya;
(v) Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;
(vi) Have advanced computer application skills;
(vii) Must have attended a management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks;
(viii) Be able to demonstrate professional and managerial competence as reflected in work performance and results; and
(ix) Must meet the requirements set out in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
|Duties and Responsibilities|
|-The successful candidates will be deployed to head the Public Affairs and Communication Unit of the Commission and will be reporting to both the Registrar, JSC and the Director of Public Affairs and Communication. |
Specific duties will include:-
(i) Gathering information on programmes, significant events in a specific area and the impact on customers, and forwarding the same to the JSC Public Affairs and Communication Committee for dissemination;
(ii) Assisting in the development of communications and media strategy;
(iii) Editing stories on various topical issues before they are released to the public and liaising with media practitioners and the public on issues of mutual concern; and
(iv) Organizing events and identifying training and development of the Section and recommending appropriate interventions.
