Requirements
-For appointment to the position of the Deputy Chief Registrar, an applicant must possess the following qualifications:
- (a) be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and has since qualification:-
- (i) become eligible for appointment as a Judge of the High Court;
- (ii) served for at least ten (10) years as a professionally qualified magistrate; or
- (iii) attained at least ten (10) years’ experience as a distinguished academic and legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal field; or
- (iv) held the qualifications mentioned in paragraphs (i) to (iii) for a period, amounting in aggregate, to ten years.
- (b) Has demonstrated competence in the performance of administrative duties for not less than three years.
- (c) Have a high moral character, integrity and impartiality.
- (In addition to the above qualifications, the applicants must demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, communication skills, fairness, good temperament, making of good judgments in both legal and life experiences and commitment to public and community service.)
- The appointment shall be made in accordance with Section 10 of the Judicial Service Act, 2011.

Duties and Responsibilities
-The Deputy Chief Registrar shall deputise the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.
- Specific functions will entail:-
- 1. Being responsible to the Chief Registrar in the exercise of the duties assigned to him or her.
- 2. Discharge any other functions as required of him or her by the law.
Important Information
-Interested and qualified persons are asked to make their applications by:-

- (a) A letter of application,
- (b) A detailed and updated curriculum vitae, to include background information such as community service, financial discipline, pro bono activity, involvement as a party in litigation and involvement in political activity including financial contribution to political party
-parties (if any) and criminal record, legal
-professional engagement for the last five (5) years, three (3) professional referees and two (2) character references who can verify and comment on the applicant’s past and present employment,
- (c) Applicant’s three (3) recent coloured passport size photographs,
- (d) Five (5) samples of any professional writings, including but not limited to judgments, advocacy submissions in courts, scholarly writings or any legal publications that the applicant has authored,
- (e) Declaration of income and liabilities as at the time of making the application, using the prescribed forms “The Declaration of Income, Assets and Liabilities Form JSC 2b” which can be downloaded from the Judiciary website – www.judiciary.go.ke. Applicants from Government employment should attach copies of returns of Declaration of Income, Assets and Liabilities for the last three (3) years.
- (f) Applicants must also submit copies clearance certificates from the following bodies:-
- Kenya Revenue Authority,
- Higher Education Loans Board,
- Law Society of Kenya,
- Directorate of Criminal Investigation,
- Advocates Complaints Commission,
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and
- a recognised Credit Reference Bureau.
- Those in private practice should attach Income Tax Returns, for the last three (3) years.
- (g) Certified copies of testimonials, professional certificates and academic transcripts.
- (2) Applicants are also required to forward one (1) hard copy of the completed Employment Application Form JSC 2 for non-public officers or JSC 2A for public officers which can be downloaded from www.judiciary.go.ke (downloads) and to attach all the documents cited in item No. 1 (a to g)above.
